HAI Europe is a non-profit, growing, European network of consumers, public interest NGOs, health care providers, academics, media and individuals with 25 years experience in representing the voice of civil society, the poor and the marginalised in medicines policy debates. 

It is composed of members from Europe and North America (and sometimes beyond) and a core staff in the regional coordinating office based in Amsterdam, The Netherlands. Importantly, HAI Europe is part of the global HAI network.

Our authority rests on our integrity and independence from commercial and political party interests, our research excellence and evidence-based advocacy.

HAI Europe works towards a world where all people, especially the poor and disadvantaged, are able to exercise their human right to health, through equitable access to affordable quality health care and essential medicines.

HAI advocates for greater transparency in all aspects of decision making around pharmaceuticals, for example, by reducing industry secrecy and control over important clinical data.

HAI promotes the rational use of medicines: that all medicines marketed should meet real medical needs; have therapeutic advantages; be acceptably safe and offer value for money.

HAI works for better controls on drug promotion and the provision of unbiased, independent information for prescribers and consumers.

Whether working locally, nationally, regionally or internationally, HAI Europe uses various methods to reach its goals. This includes campaigning, information sharing, action-oriented research, workshops and training, development of tools and new evidence, and advocacy.

HAI Europe welcomes new members who wish to join us and work on important issues. Projects and campaigns are coordinated by the office staff but HAI Europe relies on its members to campaign, lobby, research, and analyze the issues, particularly at the national level.
